Bio

I spent the first ten years of my childhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I still claim the Steelers and Pirates as my hometown teams! I attended a Baptist church as a child and was baptized when I was 11 years old. At that time I knew that Jesus Christ loved me enough to die for my sins. What I didn’t understand was how to grow in Christ and what it meant to be in “fellowship” with other believers.

In high school I attended Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland. Through the dynamic youth ministry of this church I developed significant relationships with other Christians. I understood for the first time that God had a greater plan for my life then the one I was planning! Dr. Richard Halverson, the pastor of Fourth Presbyterian would often say, “you go nowhere by accident.” Wherever I would go God was sending me and caring for me!

After college, I worked for two years in a public relations firm, and worked as a volunteer on the youth staff at Fourth Presbyterian. It was there that my wife and I met and were married in 1986. My experiences in ministry at Fourth eventually led me into full-time ministry and a passion to care for young people.

From 1984-1989 I served at Fourth Presbyterian Church as a senior high youth director. In 1989 I was called to Third Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia to serve as a youth pastor. Five years later I left to attend Gordon-Conwell Seminary and received my Masters of Divinity degree in 1997. It is now my great joy to serve at Hope Church.

I’m blessed with a wonderful wife and three children.
