ABOUT HOPE
All people in all places are seeking life. There is life to be found at the coffee shop with a friend. There is life through the thrill of victory in sports or the challenge of whitewater rafting on an untamed river. We even find life in our work - and certainly we find life with our families and friends.
But do we find life in the church?
At Hope our interest is people...people seeking life.
We know that people are looking for life in many places outside of the church. People seek to know that they are valuable, that they are loved and that they can overcome a sometimes challenging past. We believe these things are found through a relationship with God and the grace of Jesus Christ. Are you interested in finding life - real life? We invite you to join us as we seek “life” together at Hope...A Good Place to Find Life.
Hope’s Mission
Offering experiences, relationships and places where people can find life and purpose through Jesus Christ.
From the beginning, Hope has been trying to help people who don’t know God, have every opportunity to do so. It’s part of our DNA.
We know that people are looking for life in many places. Some go shopping, some follow sports, some go to Starbucks. People seek to know that they are valuable, that they are loved, that they have purpose, and that they can overcome their past. We believe these things are found in a relationship with God through the grace we find in Jesus Christ. That’s the starting point.
From there, life becomes an adventure of purpose. “Who am I?” and, “What am I to do?” are two questions that live in the hearts of millions around us. This idea of purpose is connected to the idea of maturing as a follower of Jesus. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we begin to take servanthood seriously. We begin to look at life as a gift rather than a right, and we wish to thank God with our living.
With this being the goal, we want to offer people experiences, relationships, places, where the have every opportunity to find it.
Experiences: We are intentional about considering what a person might experience when they are at a gathering or worship service with Hope. Now they are treated is important because it indicates whether a person is valued. Organizations and churches give pretty clear messages about a person’s value. Think about the last time you called customer “service” and sat on hold for 15 minutes!
Relationships: The way we relate to people says so much about whether we want them to come in or not. We have a choice to move toward people and engage them with warmth and acceptance. Relating this way reflects how God feels about them, and has a great deal to do with whether they will be open to the message of Hope.
Places: We try our best to offer places where people can experience the love of God with minimal obstacles. This may be at Godwin High School, or it may be you and a friend at your kitchen table. That would be a great example of a place where Hope might do some of its best ministry!
